How To Use Lighting In Living Room To Create A Mood
A typical home plan consists of various kinds of spaces categorized as per their primary function. A living room is amongst the most important spaces in any home. It is a room with maximum area in plan.

In spite of variations in shape, size and volume of living rooms depending upon design of each, one thing is common for all kind of living rooms and that's their need to have an inviting nature.

This kind of inviting nature can be achieved by using some easy design principles such as use of bright colors. If lighting is used with these colors then a very magical play of colors can be used enhance the
living room space.

Lighting primarily is categorized in two types 1) Natural lighting (Direct sunlight) and 2) Artificial lighting.

1) Natural Direct Sunlight.

Natural light received from the Sun is the most obvious and healthy source of light we receive during daytime. Though the intensity and quantity of sunlight coming inside the space can be controlled using
diffused glasses or curtains on windows.

When the direct sunlight falls on the inside walls the color of the walls temporarily changes to a mixture of sunlight plus the original wall shade. This particular phenomenon can be use to our advantage.
By finding out the wall that received direct sunlight and painting that wall with bright color a beautiful diffused and "reflected light" can be created absolutely free. This "reflected light" will help in creating an ambience in the living room.

Also shadow patterns on this wall will add to some extra excitement if used creatively.

2) Artificial Lighting.

Artificial lighting is a wide area of study of interior designers. Unlike sunlight in this type of lighting every aspect of light, right from its color to it's intensity or even it's area of spreading can be
controlled with various controls.

Also depending upon the requirement of the living room space a single or multiple number of lights of various intensities can be used.

But for creating a "moody" environment lights are used in specific areas of the living room such as ceiling corners or along the edge of the room. In creating a mood it is necessary to hide the light source and only show its effect. By hiding the light source using a "false ceiling" and projecting the light on bright colored ceiling panels such kind of mood can be created.

In some cases spot lights are also used to bring attention to specific areas of the living room such as the loop created by sofa sets around the TV unit. Corner end tables that come with a living room set are good for creating a platform for decorative lampshades that will lit the entire sofa set area for some extra lighting.

Sometimes however, because the homeowner is intent on trying to make the appearance of the home more beautiful, they tend to neglect the master bedroom. The master bedroom may not receive the needed attention for fresh decorative ideas because not too many people will ever see it. But since a large portion of the day is spent in the bedroom and since some of the most intimate moments in life take place there, it would be a wise idea to take seriously the project of master bedroom interior design.

One of the more important elements to consider for master bedroom interior design is in creating a personal space which will include the things in which the occupants are keenly interested. The room can and should reflect the personality of the owners and at the same time, create an intimate space. Furnishings, colors, and accessories all need to be carefully considered to make sure the room will offer the utmost comfort.

Choices of Color

The decision of the wall color will be an important one in master bedroom interior design. You will want a tone that is pleasant, not too stimulating and which will help to create the desired atmosphere of intimacy. Nearly any color can be used if it is picked in the correct shade for the size of room. If colors are too dark they can make the room feel closed in and much smaller. This may work for a large room that has a good deal of lighting, but can make a small room feel oppressive. Colors that are too light or muted can create a washed out and boring look to a larger room. When picking a color, you will do well to collect a number of samples and look at them in the room. Once the painting has begun, if the color is not what was desired, don't hesitate to stop. Changes should be made before it is too late.

Choice of Bedding

Choose carefully the patterns for bedding and furnishings. If there are two people who occupy the master bedroom, both should have equal input as to the design and colors. Nothing is more frustrating in master bedroom interior design than to come to the completion of the project and to have one person hate it. Allowing time and energy to get the just-right patterns and theme will be well worth it. There are always ways to find a compromise which two people can be happy with. Even if one person likes fishing and another person prefers bouquets of flower, a compromise can always be worked out.

Luxury Interior Design Lighting

A major element in interior design that most homeowners overlook is lighting. Interior design lighting can spell the difference between a mediocre room and one that is truly impressive and dramatic.

Whether it's intentional or not, some homes retain very dim and somber lighting that does not at all contribute to the attractiveness of living space. These are places where interior design lighting has been taken for granted, and no matter how expensive your furniture or accents may be, they'll lose their appeal when situated in a room that is poorly lit.

Although interior design lighting is done with functionality in mind, it can also create atmospheres that set the mood, depending on its placement, coloring, and combinations.

Many old homes are notorious for being dim and plain because of the limited possibilies for modern interior design lighting. The main setback encountered by most interior design lighting professionals are existing wiring that may not be accessible or would simply take too much stripping to renovate.

However, if interior design lighting could not be easily managed via overhead lights, there are alternatives to revitalizing mediocre-looking spaces by making use of modern techniques that weren't available a few years ago.

Making Use Of Track Lighting

Track lighting is a welcome boon to the interior design lighting industry. They are sleek, easy to install, and very functional. Most new condo units have provisions for basic track lighting fixtures and can be easily moved from one place to another with simple re-wiring.

Houses that were built without standby wiring but with overhead lights or ceiling fans may still benefit from track lighting as their existing wiring may still be tapped for the track lighting apparatus.

Track lighting is best used for focusing light on various room areas - on paintings, artwork, sculptures, or any item you wish to focus on. You can also use track lighting to focus light on a desk or on countertops where you work on.

If you're stuck with a cookie cutter home with limited interior design lighting options because of its inimal electrical outlets, you can depend on track lighting to fulfill your more sophisticated lighting needs.

Professional-grade interior design lighting can now be easily achieved with track lighting because of the many varieties of lights available. There are different sizes, colors, shapes and designs which are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Older homes which used to be dingy and unwelcoming instantly become vibrant with strategically placed track lighting. These fixtures help by reaching places which could not otherwise be lit.

The kitchen is another room where interior design lighting is crucial. Because it can be a hub of activity, specially designed track lighting works perfectly for kitchens with many different work areas.

There are simple straight tracks, U-shaped tracks, and just about any design imaginable. Interior design lighting professionals can show you a wide range of selections, depending on whether you want the fixtures to blend with the ceiling or stand out and make a statement.

You can also "play" with your interior design lighting by using your track lights as mood lighting. These are commonly equipped with dimmers that can soften or intensify the light. Different-colored bulbs can also be used for a festive effect.
